Your studies
With a few exceptions (dual training study programs like our “Licences professionnelles” and some Master 1 programs and all of our Master 2 programs), exchange students study the same courses as degree students.

Course selection
Courses at Montpellier Management are taught in 5 areas of study:
- Management Strategy
- Marketing Sales
- Audit, Accounting, Control, Finance
- Public Management
- Entrepreneurship and SMEs
Study programs taught in French may be found here. Students can follow our study programs from L1 (1st year of Bachelor) to M1 (1st year of Master) only.
The list of courses taught in English can be found here. You need to base your learning agreement on this list of courses for now.
In terms of ECTS credits, exchange students have 3 options:
- Take a full semester of courses just like regular students for a maximum of 30 ECTS credits per semester;
- Take a limited number of courses for less then 30 ECTS per semester and be credited the regular number of ECTS credits (between 1 and 5 ECTS credits according to the selected courses; the regular number of ECTS credits are available on the webpages of each of our study program);
- Take the “light formula” option available for exchange students only which consists of choosing 6 mandatory courses from Montpellier Management from one (ideally!) or several study programs. In this case, each course will be automatically credited with 5 ECTS credits for a maximum of 30 ECTS credits per semester.
To avoid scheduling conflicts, we advise students to take courses in 1 or 2 different study programs whenever possible.
Language courses
Exchange students can take up language courses as part of their learning agreement if these courses are approved by their home university.
Business English courses are available in all of our study programs from L1 to M1.
Exchange students can also participate in French language courses for foreign students. These courses are organized by the Language Department of the University of Montpellier and can be credited between 2 and 5 ECTS credits according to the requirements of the home university.
Administrative registration
Upon their arrival in Montpellier, exchange students must complete their administrative registration.
In order to do so, they need to come to the International Relations Office (D201) with the following documents:
- a copy of your Passport or National Identity Card;
- an ID photo;
- a copy of your medical insurance: European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) for Erasmus+ students OR international health insurance for non EU students covering the entire period of your exchange program;
- a copy of your liability insurance covering the entire period of your exchange program.
Once your administrative registration has been finalized by the registration office of Montpellier Management, we will provide you with a student card and a certificate of enrolment.
Exam registration
Courses can be assessed in 3 different manners: continuous assessment only, continuous assessment and final assessment, final assessment only. At the start of each course, ask the teacher to confirm the method of assessment for their course.
Exams are mostly held in French, except for certain courses and exams taught in English.
All students must register for their exams, regardless of the assessment type used by the professors.
Grading system and transcript of records
In France, students are graded on a scale from 0 to 20 out of 20 (20 being the highest possible grade). Students are granted ECTS credits if they achieve a grade of 10/20 or above.
The grading scale is as follows:
- From 10 to 11.99 out of 20: pass
- From 12 to 13.99 out of 20: satisfactory
- From 14 to 15.99 out of 20: good
- From 16 to 17.99 out of 20: very good
- From 18 to 20 out of 20: very good with honors
The translation into the local grading system and the validation of your results obtained at Montpellier Management is the responsibility of your home university.
The International Relations Office of Montpellier Management will sent the official transcript of records to the student by e-mail and upon request to the coordinator of the home university, generally one month after the end of the official exam period.
Please note that Language Certificates for the French language classes are issued separately.
